It is the best when you can stumble on a music act that you can tell are on the verge of making it big. Well, Lovatron and myself had the chance to not only see one but two bands that fit into such a category last night at The Highline Ballroom. We both jammed the night away to the original and entertaining music of Emanuel and the Fear and the Dennis Padula Band.
Even though the crowd was a bit lack luster the musicians and the crowd that came enjoyed every second of the show, and everyone in the room quickly realized this might be one of the last shows that either one of the bands have where this is extra space to dance around. Both ensemble bands have fresh sounds that even though very different from one another, collaborated beautifully and made for quite an enjoyable rainy Wednesday night.
If you have not heard of the New York based orchestra-rock band you definitely need to. Led by Emanuel Ayvas, this 11 person ensemble can command a room and the sounds produce vary from all out rock to beautiful orchestral arrangements that kept the entire crowd last night entertained. It is the kind of original music that keeps a smile on your face but also allows you to contemplate those inner feelings within, and is the perfect music to listen to as your drive across the country to destinations unknown.
For Listeners of: Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, and Blues Traveler.

The Dennis Padula Band
Led by the firecracker singer/songwriter Dennis Padula this ensemble band gave the crowd an insanely energetic and great set last night. DPB is compromised of musicians from numerous backgrounds and what they produce is a smooth R&B/Pop sound that you have no choice but to sway along with. Padula has a stage presence that could rival music legends that have been in the industry for decades, and his band behind him only amplifies the killer performances.
For Listeners of: Prince, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Jamiroquai
